Today was a terrific “Tip-toe Tuesday” at Teddy Bear Club.  The girls and boys arrived and did their morning jobs at the pocket chart and the apple tree. We had to wake up Mr. Alligator today, so he had not brushed his teeth this morning. We brushed and flossed his teeth and he used mouth wash. As we were brushing his teeth he said that he had a sore tooth when he ate a cupcake last night. We told him that it was time for him to go to the dentist.  We read the book, Tooth Trouble by Jane Clarke. In this book there was a walrus named Wilbur that had a sore tusk, but was afraid to go to the dentist. After talking to his grandfather who had a missing tusk and wished he had gone to the dentist, Wilbur goes to the dentist. He is so glad he went, he tells his grandfather to go to the dentist too.  Next, we examined eggs from our egg experiment. We noticed that egg in Coke turned brown.  We brushed it, but only got a little bit off. We discussed that pop has a lot of sugar and is not good for our teeth.  The egg that was sitting in Gatorade was bright blue. We brushed it and just like the pop only a little bit came off. The egg in water did not change at all. We decided that water was good for our teeth.  After classroom jobs we played the dentist game. When snack was over we played in the learning center. We brushed and flossed his teeth and then introduced mouth wash. Our science experiment was ready for us to look at today. We checked what happened to the egg in the milk and noticed it looked the same and decided that milk is good for our teeth.  The egg in the apple juice had a brown film on it, so we used a toothbrush and toothpaste to clean the egg and it removed the film. The egg in orange pop was stained orange, so we brushed it also and the orange stain came off.  We then discussed how drinks with sugar harm our teeth if we don’t brush our teeth.  Next, the students did their classroom jobs and ate snack.  After snack we headed over to the library, where Mrs. Wilson talked about Dr. Seuss and how his birthday is coming soon. We counted our shapes on the pocket chart and sang our shape songs. One of our friends shared her show-n-tell. We read the book The Snowy Day by Anna Milbourne and then we sang a snowman song. After classroom helping hand jobs and snack, the children explored the learning centers. Some of our friends practiced cutting by cutting the points on their snowflake craft. Before lunch we read Clifford's First Snow Day by Norman Birdwell. We also read out of the Beginners Bible how King Herod sent the three wise men to find Jesus and report back to him. In our God and Me we talked about helping others and we asked Jesus to help us to be helpful. After lunch, the children played in the small and large motor centers. We read the book Dinofours, Let's Go Sledding by Steve Metzer.

Happy New Year! This week and next we will be talking a lot about winter and snow, before we begin our dinosaur unit. The boys and girls began their day with their morning jobs at the apple tree and pocket chart. We reviewed our shapes and sang our shape songs. We read When winter Comes by Robert Mass and then talked about all the changes that occur in the season of winter. After our classroom helping hand jobs and snack. We learned about all the new items that are at each center. The students then explored the learning centers until it was time to pick up. Before lunch we listened to the book First Snow by Bernette Ford. We also read out of the Beginners Bible about wise men who lived in the east and saw a special star. Our God and Me was about being grumpy and asking God to help us and thanking Him for each day. We stayed inside today and played in the large and small motor centers. Before nap we read the book The Winter Wish by Gillian Shields.
